so  the most hilarious thing ever happened at sluggo's last night.  these guys played.   hahahaha!!!  well, it was hilarious for about 10 minutes or so, then it just got annoying as fuck. some of the worst metal ever concieved.  the sad thing is, i'm pretty sure they are serious.  the best part was the fans.  they were all in makeup too. like 60 of em. ("you mean dude with the cape is not in the band??!!??") totally bizarre.  like something out of an 80's horror  movie.  a really bad one about a metal band.  and the funniest part is these guys are from pensacola and i've never heard of em.   the fans call themselves "the legion".  some of the worst headbanging/mosh attempting i've ever seen.   after they finished, the place cleared out.  then a band called rat babies played to about 8 people(kinda reminded me of a not so good version of the melvins)  and then polemic , who i enjoyed quite a lot, actually.    but i have a feeling battlefield earth will prove the most memorable,  for the wrong reason.

i doubt it.  i'm guessing they heard the phrase battlefield earth somewhere and thought it sounded cool.   at one point, though, between songs,  someone  screamed "l. ron hubbard is a homo!!"

Is that supposed to be insulting?  They've could have done better.  I mean, L. Ron Hubbard was many things... A liar, a scam artist, a bad writer, founder of a cult, etc.  But I don't think he was gay!  Even if he was, who cares?

wow.  i really feel sorry for some of these "legion" kids.  check out their myspace pages.  battlefield earth is their LIFE.  "corpulus" even calls them his "gods" in one of his photo captions.   btw,  corpulus is now bald, and has frankenstein-like scars painted on top of his head.  and looks around every few seconds to make sure his headbanging is in sync with everyone else/the band.  it wasn't.  not even once.
