my parents make enough surprise visits as it is, and they live 20 minutes away.  i couldn't stand living on the same street.  jeez.

You guys are all cracking me up. There is no way I could live on the same street as my parents.  My parents live about 5 minutes from me but they never do the ol' drop in. When I worked really close to them I'd go over and have lunch with them almost every day............I wonder if they dreaded that?? hahahaha..........

Okay, I really have grown to love Sleater-Kinney (the s/t debut convinved  me), but "Dig Me Out" (the album I first heard) is still the weakest and most songs sound like filler/unfinished.

Yeah, but imagine living with them again...after a few years of freedom.

Anyone else bored with my avatar? I was contemplating using Tripp(ilicious') "best avatar ever" , but I figure I would be revisiting the territory of the "great cock-swing avatar debacle of '03', and we don't wanna do that, do we?

I did that when I was twenty.  Moved in with my mom.   The most interesting part was learning that my stepfather really was a douchebag.   It wasn't any deep psychological mental block on my part, because I felt protective of my mother.

nope, he's just an asswipe.

Made me feel kinda better, somehow.

matt, you should really chack out des ark.  the only proper album they(she) has put out, "loose lips sink ships"  is quite a rocker, although the songs are brilliantly written.  however that album was primarily electric and featured a drummer.   she is primarly a solo act, and tends to play an acoustic guitar. or very softly strummed/plucked electric guitar.  but i bet you would dig it.  i'll try to find a link.

re: Shangri-La Bag

That was a total lie, even if it sounded like something that might be true. A ton of Simple Ones 7"...the last Grifters-related stuff I was missing...Jared gave me a Simple Ones t-shirt which I cherish. I was actually complaining to S_____ the other day that it was worn out and that I should probably have the image transferred to a new tee before it dies.

I'm sure there was much more...W_____ and I spent most of out time in Memphis at Shangri-La. Tripp promised to meet up with us at some point but he totally stood us up.

Speaking of remakes (sorta), the rumour is that Ron Howard is remaking Cache (for Americans!). WTF? Does Cache need to be remade? And by Ron Howard?

WTF?!!!

Great!  Now we get to find out how it ends!

hmm.  seems she has a drummer in most of those photos.  i've seen her once with a drummer (pretty loud show), and twice by herself (very quiet and intimate),  either way,  great stuff.  i think j mascis may have had something to do with producing "loose lips".
