Yep.  But Nigel's problems were caused by using a wireless system to connect his guitars to his amps (that go up to eleven).

Okee dookee, to my great amusement and everyone elses despair, here's a guitar gear update!

My two main bitches:

My CIJ (that's crafted in Japan for you heathens) Fender Jaguar and my Rickenbacker 330

I'm very impressed with the quality of my jap jag, the building is as good as the much more expensive american made reissues.  The only gripe I have with this guitar is the pickups: they're crap.  And not in that jag pus are crap anyway vein (a point of view usually shared by metal playing dickheads), more in the they're crappy crap crap vein.  They sound ok clean, put each time I use a bit of gain, they squeal like horny pigs.  I'm gonna have them swapped for american vintage jag pickup reissues as soon as fender corp starts selling them again.

My guitar set-up:

2001 Rickenbacker 330/1981 Gibson The Paul Deluxe (tuned to D)/2002 CIJ Fender Jaguar/Harmony H-19 Silhouette (tuned to open G) --> Ernie Ball Volume --> Zoom Ultrafuzz --> True Bypass Vox 847 --> Boss TU-2 -->Vox Valvetone --> Keeley Mod. Vintage Rat Reissue --> Akai Intelliphase -->Boss DD-3 --> one loop Loooper bypass pedal with Alesis Nanoverb in loop --> Akai Headrush --> Mid seventies Ampeg VT-22 (2x12" eminence speakers) or 1965 Traynor YBA-1 Bassmaster head into Sixties 2x15" Traynor cab (also used with a beaten Roland bass) or non-master volume silverface Super Reverb that has been converted to a head into sixties Sunn 2x12" cab

Other FX: Jap. Boss HM-2, Boss GE-7, Morley A/B/Y, guyatone FL3 flanger, Mod. by Effector13 Boss OS-2, DOD FX90 analog delay, Dunlop Tremolo, ebow+, Boss CE-2

It seems like a lot of pedals, but I often simplify things.  I rarely use anything else than a tuner and the valvetone with the Fender amp.  And I often play with only the fuzz or the rat into the traynor.

I've added a Fender Super Reverb "head" that looks like shit but sounds wonderful.  It's a early seventies silverface no-master volume amp that was converted into a head by it's previous owner.  It is so beaten up that I got it cheap.  But when hooked to my Sunn 2x12", it sounds great.  It has that beautiful Fender sparkle and a really cool reverb.  I'm going to keep it has a head, but I'm going to have a new enclosure made.  I’m also going to get really good speakers for my cab, so that the head is working at the correct impedance.

Pictures when I'll be over with the repairs!

Also, I got my hands on a dirt cheap  Traynor cab for my Traynor YBA-1 head, and I learned something interesting about it:

I have a Traynor YBA-1 bassmaster head, one of the early ones, with a tube rectifier and two 6L6 tubes. It has a bass and a guitar channel. The guitar channel, when used with my old Sunn 2x12" cab, tends to be really, really trebly and brittle sounding, and I usually bridge it with the bass channel to tame the treble. I've always wondered why old Pete Traynor had made it that way, and I thought it was because of some sixties treble fad...

Well, I recently acquired one of the 2x15" cab that was supposed to go with the YBA-1, and I played my guitars through the guitar channel. And lo and behold, all the treble harshness was gone! Good old Pete Traynor had jacked up the treble on the guitar channel to compensate for the woofiness of the two 15” speakers! Right now, my little Traynor head cranks out a smooth, raspy, mean tone, with nice clear highs! And it looks so cool on top of it’s big closed back 2x15” cab! I gotta get photos of this!

How cool is that?
